John Potts is a published author, and one of America's great programmers of radio stations. He worked closely with consultant Jack Gardner and former voice of the Charleston Rockets and station owner, Gary Brookhart. John was morning host and program director at WCAW and WVAF in Charleston and we both worked for the late Paul Miles there.
Both John and I worked in Altoona, Pennsylvania at the famous WVAM. I went there from Parkersburg to replace extreme morning talent Jim Reese, (Grant Hudson) who left WVAM to go to CKLW The Big 8! Jim worked there with some amazing jocks, including Big Jim Edwards (Jim Davis) who later became the program director of KMPC and later still the General Manager of a pair of great stations, WCAW and WVAF in Charleston, West Virginia, where I logged five years as a jock during my college days, and later I was an account executive at V-100 WVAF, before going to North American Broadcasting in Columbus as an account exec with WMNI.
John and I wound up in some of the same places in our careers. He is a stellar talent, big pipes monster voice...a pro! I worked for John at WCAW and at WPAR and WKYG. He was my mentor, my program director, and my friend.
