"The Man"

Ralph Allen is a graduate of Morris Harvey College, now the University of Charleston. He holds a bachelor's degree in speech communications and English. He has done post graduate work in clinical and school psychology at Marshall University and The University of Dayton and practiced school and clinical psychology in Ohio and West Virginia.

Ralph worked his way through college as a jock at Capitol Broadcasting's twin 50,000 watt giants, WCAW and WVAF-FM. He was a highly rated morning host at WPAR and WKYG in Parkersburg and later became Operations Manager for the Dailey Corporation, a group operator of radio stations in Ohio, West Virginia, and South Carolina. His senior management career was with the same company as an account executive and later General Manager of Parkersburg's WADC. Ralph's senior management career also included return to Charleston's V-100 (WVAF) as an account executive and a year in Columbus, Ohio as an Account Executive at WMNI.

Buddy Blake, among others, was one of Ralph's program directors while a jock at WCAW. Buddy worked for Gordon MacClendon at the famous KLIF in Dallas when it was a top 40 station and the MONSTER KEEL in Shreveport. As a sidelight, Gordon MacClendon and Todd Storz were the premier conceptualizers that gave us THE model for EVERY successful radio format that has ever been! Buddy was editor/owner of Programmer's Digest and hung out with people like Wolfman Jack and Chuck McDowell. Buddy was a top rated jock at WNOX in Knoxville during it's glory days and he was program director at WCAW when it was, in Ralph's opinion, the BEST top forty station that ever was...now THAT is a statement! Top ten markets had NOTHING on Paul Miles and Pete Johnson! These guys hired the best, sounded the best, and WERE the best. They shared their knowledge of how you do what you do and why with their programmers and jocks. What a place to learn the craft and art of broadcasting.

Ralph was Creative Director with Randy Jay Dailey's advertising agency and had worked for the broadcasting division of Fahlgren, a top fifty Parkersburg based advertising agency. After a short side trip as Operations Manager at Charleston's WCHS and WBES, he returned to Parkersburg, was a host on the famous Z-106 Classic Rock station and he started Ralph Allen Media with initial client Nissan. Ralph's voice was on more than one hundred stations a month and three networks for more than a decade as the "voice" of Nissan and later GMC Trucks and more than two dozen more national clients.

Ralph taught Broadcast Management and Operations, Commercial Writing, News Writing, and Radio-Television Production at Salem College as an adjunct professor and he was editor of Marshall's Psychology Newsletter.

*Update, Ralph is now back in the college classroom teaching again as well as back on the air doing mornings at a great station he worked at more than 25 years ago.

Ralph was a director with the largest foster care agency in West Virginia, where he raised several millions of dollars for enhanced foster care services for foster children in the state.

Ralph Allen Media has been a full service advertising agency with regional clients in banking, luxury automobiles, high end furniture and mens wear. The agency specializes in selling high ticket luxury items to upscale adults.
